At The New Ways Learning Centre, we offer a timetable of small sized group sessions to assist with your child’s development alongside peers, in a warm and supportive environment.

We offer a selection of focused group sessions, ready to support your child’s journey in a shared environment. Specialist sessions take place Tuesday - Friday, see our timetable below and read more information about each session.
Places are offered on a case-by-case basis and our referral and admissions procedure.
Top Up Maths
Year 4 - Year 6/7

Day: Tuesday
Time: 3:45pm - 4:45pm
Age Group: Y4 to Y6/7
This is a mainstream maths group for Year 4 to Year 6 learners working at or just below age expected standards or those wanting a boost to reach their best potential (year 7 learners are welcome too with prior discussion). This group will teach and consolidate the mainstream curriculum to top up and complement the learning in school. The small group ethos and multisensory teaching methods allow learners to feel confident in their learning and make progress to help support their maths knowledge and development.
£25 a session – block booking per half term.
Top Up English
Year 5 - Year 7

Age Group: Y5 to Y7

This is a mainstream English group for Year 10/11 learners working towards their GCSE exams. Focusing on English language and incorporating texts from the GCSE English literature curriculum, this group supports learners to develop the skills needed to understand, use, refine and adapt their ideas for answering exam style questions. The small group ethos allows learners to be more confident in their learning and gives the opportunity to ask questions and explore narratives within a safe learning environment.
£25 a session – block booking per half term.
Fun French
8yrs - 16yrs

Age Group: 8yrs to 16yrs
Come and explore the French language through fun activities and games designed to help you develop your key skills. Learn about life in France and find out about the similarities and differences to England as well as some fun facts about important places and events!

Smashing Spanish

Age Group: 8yrs to 16yrs
This group focusses on all things Spanish and aims to work on key skills for learning the language as well as key topics for Spanish life. Games and practical learning give you a fun way to smash Spanish skills!

GCSE Maths Top Up
Year 9 - Year 10/11

Age Group: Y9 to Y10/11
This is a mainstream GCSE maths group for Year 10/11 learners working towards their GCSE exams. Y9 can also attend if started the GCSE programme. Focusing on foundation and higher skills across the different exam boards (AQA/Edexcel etc), this group supports learners to develop the skills needed to for answering exam style questions. The small group ethos allows learners to be more confident in their learning and gives the opportunity to ask questions and explore mathematical concepts within a safe learning environment.
£25 per session – block booking per half term
The Creation Station
8yrs - 16yrs (day time)

Time: 12:30 - 2pm
Age Group: 8yrs to 16yrs
This is a group for young people not attending full time mainstream education for any reason. Be creative without picking up a pencil or paintbrush - join our Creation Station and see the therapeutic side of exploring your creativity. We provide a safe space for you to enjoy fun experimentation with mediums, styles & expressions with our very own aesthete, Gaynor. From Minecraft to Matisse from papier mache to Picasso, discover activities such as painting, mosaics, printing, marbling, optical and 3D art too. Our sessions are guided by our learners so if there is something you’d like to try, let us know as we would love to try it with you.
£20 per session – invoiced weekly.
STEM

This is a group for young people not attending full time mainstream education for any reason. Ever wondered how we see things, why the stars don’t fall from the sky, how to make a volcano explode or why the lightbulbs shine when the switch is flicked….want to make a device to see round corners and over walls or challenge your friends to an egg splat contest…or just want to know more about how things work? Then this is the group for you!
£20 a session – invoiced weekly.
Fun and Games

English Key Skills
KS2

This group focuses on developing the key skills that underpin accurate and fluent reading, writing and spelling. Developing and building on phonological awareness and orthographic processing, this is a specialist group that uses multisensory teaching to support learners with dyslexic type difficulties achieve strong foundations to build their future learning on.

Read with Rosie
Year 3 - Year 7 (7-12yrs)

Age Group: Y3 to Y7 (7-12yrs)
A lovely way to end the week by sitting and chilling with a story - whether you want to read, be read to, look at the pictures or just sit and have a puppy cuddle come and do it with us…and Rosie. Share books, magazines, plays, poems, songs and more! Reading, acting, singing and dancing your favourite stories all with the attention of Rosie - she doesn’t care if you don’t read the words, she just likes to see you enjoying a book your way!
These are relaxed sessions for readers of all abilities, including fluent readers, reluctant readers and those not yet at word level, to come and experience books, stories and magazines in a fun and safe environment. There are no teaching and learning objectives, no targets and no pressure - but chances to be read to and hear some of our favourite stories and our best character voices and even the chance to read to Rosie. Like us, she loves adventures, doesn’t mind mistakes, made up words or plot deviations and she just wants people to start loving books! Bring a book or borrow one of ours!

Construction Club
Year 3 - Year 7

Finish the week off with a ‘Build It!’ challenge. Use Lego, K-nex, Domino Rally, Cogs, Tracks and more to complete the challenge or just have a fun session of free building!
